Cayes Botanic Garden History Cayes Botanic Garden was founded in September 3rd 2003 and has 8 hectares. This garden mainly focuses on: conservation, education and research. It is located between the two majors protected areas in Haiti: Pack Macaya and Park La Visite. On the Google map it is easy to find it on 18.234397, -73.755347. The establishment of this garden is rooted to the biodiversity loss and lack of long-term structures to conserve biodiversity in Haiti. In consequence the garden has been involved in helping the government to conserve Haitian biodiversity and encourage the parliament to elaborate laws for its management and the establishment others.

The Haitian Constitution 1987 stated in it article 256 Within the framework of protecting the environment and public education, the State has the obligation to proceed to establish and maintain botanical and zoological gardens at certain points in its territory. Based on this has involve in working with several organizations in south; CRA, UNDH, CEFOCAT, American University of the Caribbean to educate the south population. Several eco-agro tourism faire has been taken place in this garden. These fair makes the garden well known and become one of the most important event in South. I has been visited by 30 000 people in 2008, 40000 in 2009 and 60 000 in 2010. The visitors are categorized as this; primary schools 50 %, secondary schools, 25%, and families: 25%. The vast majority of them are local, just 15 to 20% came from Port-au-Prince.
